Join Us!

Our club currently has approximately 60 members, but we're always looking for new members. This year we are holding two beginner's training courses catering for up to 24 new archers. The course is available to adults (above 18 years old) and will provide you with everything you need to get started in archery. For more information about these course, please click here.

New to archery?

If you have never done archery before, you will need to complete a beginner's course. This is usually held over four weeks - two hours a night. For further details of the next course run by Royal Richmond, please click here.

Royal Richmond welcomes juniors from the age of 16 to 18. (We cannot accept juniors under 16 for the time being.) If they are joining for the first time, they will have to do a beginners course (accompanied by a responsible adult for the duration of the course) and achieve a certain standard before they can shoot with the rest of the Club on Sundays. The Club has adopted the GNAS policy and guidelines for the protection of children and vulnerable adults and has issued a statement outlining our committment to child protection and zero tolerance of bullying.

Beginners are able to use Club bows and arrows during their first year on payment of a small deposit against breakages. This will allow you to develop your technique and decide which style of archery you prefer before spending lots of money on your first bow.

Done it before?

If you have previously completed a beginner's course (no matter how long ago) you will be asked to shoot with an experienced archer. This is just to check that your shooting is still up to standard and that you have remembered the rules and safety procedures. This assessment costs £5. For further details, click here to email the Beginners' Liaison Officer.
